On the occasion of the exhibition ‘Edmondo Bacci. The Energy of Light’ (April 1 – September 18, 2023), a special dialogue has been established between the Peggy Guggenheim Collection and the Fondazione Querini Stampalia.
The great master of light Giambattista Tiepolo closes the exhibition with the work “The Last Judgment” (c. 1730-35) from the Intesa Sanpaolo Collection at the Fondazione Querini Stampalia.
An important temporal leap that testifies the influence of past canvases on Edmondo Bacci‘s training and artistic practice among light, colour and space.
The curator, Chiara Bertola, decided to bring Tiepolo’s oil into the exhibition to underscore the interest that Bacci and the artists of the spatial movement had in the luministic colourism of the masters of the Venetian painting tradition such as Bellini, Giorgione, and especially in the spatiality of Tiepolo’s great frescoes and skies, works in which light and space are true protagonists.
Until September 18, the Peggy Guggenheim Collection entrance ticket gives access to the Fondazione Querini Stampalia at a reduced rate, and vice versa.
Moreover, until September 18, the Friends of the Querini have free admission to the Peggy Guggenheim Collection. In the same way, the Peggy Guggenheim Collection Members, can visit the permanent collections and current exhibitions at the Querini for free during the same period.
