Martí Guixé – Q Spot. Seat, read, think, repeat

Q Spot is a dynamic space representing the identity of the Fondazione Querini Stampalia and its Q logo. It functions as a meeting point, cultural hub, and social space. Designed by Martì Giuxé to welcome a transitory community, it occupies the public area of Campo Santa Maria Formosa, in front of the Querini. It provides seating and facilitates interaction, with its form serving as a catalyst for behaviour, reading, reflection, and sharing. The design is simple but not the logic: its 5-metre diameter is both centrifugal, inviting you to participate, and centripetal, inviting you to get to the heart of things.

Martì Giuxé’s design uses wit and intelligence to embody the Querini’s ethos of an open space where culture is a shared experience rather than an individual pursuit. The concept extends inside to the Libreria Giovanni bookshop, where a temporary version constructed from cardboard remains lightweight, functional, and easily recyclable and in the café, where writing echoes the black and white theme—white pages and black text—creating a cohesive language where Qulture is a daily routine, a series of exercises to keep us in good shape that are simple but intensive.

This approach pares back any excess to get down to the essentials. This is no neutral choice of aesthetics but a radical stance, embracing a minimalism that does not dismiss complexity but makes space for it. It aims to organise, focus, and stimulate without distraction. It revitalises a kaleidoscopic vision of the world, made up of everyday habits and routines—perhaps neglected— that are more commonly known as good practice.
